94: Qualifier - All Ireland Junior Young Shepherd/ Shepherdess Championship

Qualifier: THE IRISH SHOWS ASSOCIATION PRESENT THE ALL-IRELAND JUNIOR YOUNG SHEPHERD/SHEPHERDESS CHAMPIONSHIP 8-11 YEARS OLD

RULES AND CONDITIONS
1. The Competition is open to girls and boys, age on the 1st September will determine the class each exhibitor enters.
1. Two exhibitors qualifies from each qualifying show for the Final.
2. Lambs can be of any Sheep breed, male, or female (pedigree or nonpedigree)
3. An exhibitor can show an animal belonging to another flock owner.
4. Junior exhibitors will exhibit a 2026 born lamb (male or Female)
5. Exhibitors may be asked for proof of their age at the final.
6. The Qualifying Exhibitor must fill out their own Qualifying Card at
each Qualifying Show. Completed card and entry fee must be handed
into the secretary’s office on show day.
THE COMPETITION WILL BE JUDGED ON CRITERIA, WHICH WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
1. The ability to handle and present the lamb to its best advantage in the Show Ring.
2. General knowledge of the sheep industry, including their feeding, breeding, etc.
3. Stock Judging, the ability to judge and place a group of lambs or Hogget’s.
4. Personal presentation ofstock person. (white coats, white blouse/shirt and ties)
5. Presentation of the lamb (bring your showing equipment)
PRIZES FUND 1st €500 – 2nd €300 – 3rd €200 – 4th €150 - 5th €125 - 6th to end €100.  Entry Fee: To Qualifying Show: €10 To Final: €15 FINAL: OSSORY SHOW Sunday 26th July 2026


 

Sheep - Opening Notes

All sheep must be penned in at 12.30pm for judging at 1.00pm (Rule 5 of the show rules apply)

All sheep must be individually identified with ear tags issued in accordance with the NSIS. All sheep being moved must be accompanied by the completed dispatch document. The movement of sheep to and from Ag shows within the state must be recorded on an AIM. All movements must be recorded on your flock register. All groups of sheep must be by the same breeder.Each group of 4 to include Hogget, Ewe Hogget, Ewe Lamb, and Ram lamb.
